(Surprizingly, although apt-get install wine1.7 did install a version of wine-mono and wine-gecko as dependencies, they didn't match the requirements of the wine program from the package, as brought to light by the warnings when winecfg was run and I had to apt-get-install manually other (newer) versions of these packages. Then, to use the wine package from PPA in 14.04 (Trusty): # apt-get purge 'wine.*' The experience of using wine1.7 from the PPAįirst, I upgraded the whole system to 14.04 (Trusty). The version which comes with the official Ubuntu Trusty repositories (wine-1.6.2, as told above) is not suitable.
#LICENSE SKETCHUP 2014 UPGRADE#
This problem must already have been (imperfectly) fixed in wine-1.7.31 this version or later is available in the Ubuntu Wine repository for 14.04 (Trusty) or later, so I'd need to upgrade from my 12.04 (Precise) to Trusty to use those packages. Big thanks!)Īt this point, one can decide to overcome this problem at the cost of disabling the Ruby engine in SketchUp by running it similarly to: $ wine /mnt/diskc/Program\ Files/SketchUp/SketchUp\ 2014/SketchUp.exe /DisableRubyAPI I wrote my answer because I wanted to add some corrections and more precise current information to that post. (BTW, my solution is primarily based on that post. This turned out to be another known problem (see under "Tips") (found via " Sketchup not responding"). Or perhaps I should have symlinked/copied the whole directory with the data (to re-use those settings): $ ln -s /mnt/diskc/ProgramData/SketchUp ~/.wine/drive_c/users/Public/Application\ Data/ creating the parent directories as needed ( mkdir -p ~/.wine/drive_c/users/Public/Application\ Data/SketchUp/SketchUp\ 2014). To solve Problem 2, in 12.04 (Precise), I had to copy/symlink a special SketchUp's data file into wine's disk C: $ ln -s /mnt/diskc/ProgramData/SketchUp/SketchUp\ 2014/SketchUp14.lf ~/.wine/drive_c/users/Public/Application\ Data/SketchUp/SketchUp\ 2014/SketchUp14.lf To solve Problem 1, in 12.04 (Precise), I had to copy/symlink a library into wine's disk C: $ ln -s /mnt/diskc/Windows/System32/mfc100u.dll ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32/ Which installs wine-1.6.2 in Ubuntu 14.04 (Trusty) (and an even older version in 14.04 (Precise)).įirst of all, to be safe and not to damage any data in the Windows partition (which is NTFS) when doing this, I re-mount it read-only: # umount /mnt/diskc Sudo launchctl load -w /Library/LaunchDaemons/.The default way to install wine is apt-get install wine Sudo launchctl unload -w /Library/LaunchDaemons/.plist

You can also use these terminal commands to register and unregister the license server service in a pinch. Uninstall the new version first by using the uninstaller found in /applications/asgvis/ then simply run the 1 installer.
#LICENSE SKETCHUP 2014 PATCH#
In the time between now and when that patch is available you can visit our site to download the older version if you find this to be a major hindrance. We are working on a new patch to address this and will have it available as soon as we can.
However we have found that on faster systems the automatic restart of the server is triggering during normal shutdown and can interrupt that process. Having the icon in the dock is an important part of those improvements and that is unlikely to change in the near future. As a result it will now appear in the dock as a running application and restart itself if stopped if you have left the option to set the license sever to run as a service during the last window of the V-Ray installer.
#LICENSE SKETCHUP 2014 UPDATE#
In the newest update we've made some improvements to the license server applications stability. We've figured it out now, unfortunately we won't have a perfect solution immediately, it will require an updated version.
Feel free to still try the above steps and reach out to us if the issue is not resolved. We are still investigating so please have patience with us.ĮDIT: We now have one coming back with disk utility not correcting the issue. Contact if it fails to fix it, please include your system details and mention that you used the disk utility already to save yourself the time it takes to read an email from us asking you to do it. Repairing with the Disk utility has fixed all of the users that have took the time to report back their results so far. In the link below are instructions for using Disk Utility to verify or repair disks. Have you attempted to uninstall V-Ray and then reinstall again, if not it's a good first step. The behavior that you are seeing is not normal or expected. This is a new issue, not very common overall but happening enough to deserve extra attention so we are still investigating. Keith from Chaos Group's USA's support reporting in, I've been meaning to start posting here for years at this point but my schedule is always so booked up and I'm sorry to say I haven't had the time.
